Coros Pace 3 - impressions from Coros first timer
I'd like to share some feedback for Coros Product Team.
A few months ago I got myself Coros Pace 3 - it's my first Coros watch. I used to use Amazfit Bip series and some earlier Mi Bands.
I like Coros Pace 3 a lot. You can hardly feel it on your wrist, it looks cool and serious enough, but I couldn’t find the perfect watch face for me (lib is not very big).
As for functionalities as a smartwatch I don't see a big difference from Amazfit Bip S except multitasking (the stopwatch can be minimized, from the workout you can get to the application menu)
There is a little confusion in touch navigation:
- quick swipe up or down - scrolls widget list by 1 element
- slow swiping/moving - you can quickly scroll over several widgets at once
- in the circle menu to “dive” into a section, you need to tap on the small icon near the crown - tapping on the heading is useless
- there is no screen lock by covering display with palm (moreover there is no manual lock at all)
The most important thing is that some actions cannot be confirmed or “fall deeper” only by touchscreen gestures (neither swipe nor tap), you have to press the crown.
I caught feeling of dampness in navigating the menu and the interface in general.
A thin arrow (which hints you need to click on the crown to enter a section or to see additional information) is misplaced and located on the right in the middle (as for Apex or Vertix series), and not opposite to the crown.
From the main screen you can scroll or swipe only up or down, the same in training mode.
There is lack of additional screens by swiping left or right from the main one - it could be weather, music, calendar, health status, etc.
Non-Latin languages support is weak - some menu items overlap each other due to the verbosity of the translations and the large font size.
It's strange that camera control is only available for action cameras.
There is no function for long pressing the crown from the main screen; pressing both buttons at the same time also makes no actions.
Single press the bottom button turns on the backlight, but does not unlock the screen (and the lock icon is shown only by pressing or rolling the crown)
No backlight brightness adjustment.
Almost all application icons are not displayed for notifications.
Even the simplest emojis are not supported.
Notification background is only white, although for workouts you can pick white or black one.
And I would like to have a slightly smaller font size.
I couldn’t find in the app how to disable the constantly hanging notification in the Android notifications area - you’ll have to disable it in Android.
I couldn’t find information on sleep on the EvoLab website. Also I would like to have a full-fledged watch face editor like Amazfit offers.
As for training and GPS tracking - Coros Pace 3 is amazing device for its price.
I have no any complaints. It performs just great!
It would be ideal if Coros added offline maps for this watch but I understand such feature is not for an entry level.
Kind regards,
Victor
