As the number of COROS users utilizing EvoLab continues to grow each day, we wanted to do our best to highlight a few tips on making the most of EvoLab, so that you are able to take advantage of this powerful tool as soon as possible!
In this article, we will discuss the criteria of what makes a run qualify for EvoLab evaluation along with answering some of the most frequently asked questions we've found online.
Getting Started
In order to unlock EvoLab, it is first necessary that COROS has a good understanding of the relationship between your personal physiological measurements and how much "work" is produced at a given effort level.
To provide the most accurate feedback, it is vital that your COROS device collects a sufficient amount of specific workout data, to ensure your EvoLab metrics start with a base level understanding of your fitness level.
Running and Cycling can both unlock most EvoLab metrics if the specific workout data requirements are met. Once you have unlocked EvoLab, it will be able to make assessments about your fitness.
EvoLab Criteria and Heart Rate Requirements:
Users must record a 25 minute run or longer at 65% max heart rate reserve or higher to unlock EvoLab.
Check to make sure your maximum heart rate number in the COROS app is accurate. If your maximum heart rate number is too high/low, this will lead to inaccurate heart rate zones and disqualify data that otherwise would be used in your EvoLab evaluation.
- For example, if your max heart rate is 180 and resting heart rate is 50, your heart rate reserve is 130. 65% of 130 is 84.5. Now to get the target range, we will add resting heart rate to the previous numbers. 84.5+50=134.5. To qualify for this example, a runner needs to maintain a heart rate reading over 134.5bpm.
