COROS users can make note of locations along their route by adding checkpoints. You can do this either during an activity, or ahead of time by using the Footpath app to create markers. Markers are unique to the route that they are saved with and are indicated by a teal circle with a white icon in the center.
Adding markers
If you wish to add a Marker to an already existing route, you can either import a route or draw one within the Footpath app.
- Import a route: From the map screen, tap on the hamburger icon in the top left corner. Then select Settings at the bottom of the screen. Choose "Import GPX file."
- Draw a route: From the map screen, tap the Draw (pencil) icon at the bottom. Tap anywhere on the map to create your starting point. Tap the Draw icon again to add a second point, and so on until you have created your route.
To add a Marker, tap anywhere on the map screen. Select the Marker icon, as shown below. This will open a new window where you can add a title and notes for your Marker. When you are finished, select "Add Marker."
Keep in mind that Markers are unique to the route they are saved with. Anytime you create a new route or open a saved one, the current Markers will be cleared from the screen. Make sure to always save your route when you are finished by tapping the share (arrow) icon in the top right corner.

*Elite subscription needed to export routes.
When you share a Footpath route that contains markers, your markers will be visible along with your route. You can share routes by tapping the share (arrow) icon in the top right corner. Then, choose "Export As" from the list of options. You will need to export it as a "GPX Route."
Now that your Footpath route is exported, locate the file and choose to open it with COROS. If COROS does not show up as an option, you may need to tap "More".
Once your route opens in the COROS app, tap "Save" in the top right corner. You can access this route in the future by opening the COROS app to the Profile page, then scrolling down to the Navigation Routes Library.
Now that your marked route is saved to the COROS app, you can sync it to your APEX 42mm/APEX 46mm/APEX Pro/APEX 2/APEX 2 Pro/VERTIX 1/VERTIX 2 for navigation. Please see our article How to Download and Manage Routes for more information.
