COROS devices rely on the barometer for elevation readings by converting the air pressure readings to elevation. Longer outdoor workouts are prone to be affected by changes of air pressure even if the elevation remains the same.
Factors listed below may affect the elevation readings:
- Natural changes in the air pressure throughout the day
- Weather changes
- Pressurized environments
- Heaters and air conditioners
- Submerged in water
- Strong wind
- Dust/dirt in the sensor

Calibrating Your COROS Device
While COROS devices automatically calibrate the elevation using GPS during outdoor workouts to ensure the best accuracy, it is recommended to regularly recalibrate the elevation manually on a consistent basis. This can be done either via GPS, or by inputting your current elevation into the device.
Please follow the steps below to manually calibrate the elevation on your specific COROS Device:
COROS Watches:
- Main watch face → System → Sensors → Calibration → Elevation → Use GPS | Enter Elevation.
- Make sure to stand in an open field when calibrating the elevation using GPS for the best accuracy.
COROS DURA:
- Main menu → System → More Settings → Calibration → Elevation → Use GPS | Enter Elevation.
- Make sure to stand in an open field when calibrating the elevation using GPS for the best accuracy.
Cleaning Your COROS Device
If your device is often exposed environments that could create a build-up of sediment on the unit, such as swimming in salt or chlorine treated water or running on dusty roads and trails, please be aware that this could impact the air pressure readings received by the barometer. Even sweat has the ability to build up layers of sediment on the device over time, which could also impact these readings.
Because of this, we recommend establishing a cleaning routine for your device to ensure it can collect the most accurate elevation data possible during activity. To learn more about cleaning and maintaining your COROS device, please click here.
