Pins
With your COROS watch and app, you can easily save your favorite viewpoints, notable locations, and other points of interest as Pins. Pins are saved along your activity route in real time, and synced to the Explore page of the COROS app to build a personal dashboard for your voice notes, photos, and other memories.
How to Create Pins
During your activity, you can save specific points along your route such as water fountains, camping spots, or other points of interest to remember for future use.
In the app:
- While tracking an activity, open your COROS app to the first page and select Extender. This mirrors the data and map on your watch in real-time in an extended display.
- To drop a new pin, select the Pin icon on the right side of the screen. Add a name, description, and icon for your new pin. You can also take an image or upload one from your camera roll to save with the pin.
On your watch:
- To save Pins from your watch, long-press the Back button to open the toolbox menu and scroll to the Pin widget. You can also select an icon for your Pin directly on the watch.
- Note: To edit the name and description of the Pin, and add any photos or videos, you will need to make edits to the Pin from Extender.
How to Record Voice Pins
To capture even more detail and emotion during your activity, you can also record Voice Pins. Certain key phrases will automatically categorize your Voice Pin with a unique icon. These include water fountain, bathroom, parking lot, campsite, and more.
On COROS devices with built-in microphones (COROS NOMAD, APEX 4, PACE 4):
- Record voice pins directly on the watch by long-pressing the Back button to open the toolbox menu, and scrolling to the Pin widget. Select Voice Pin and press the dial to begin recording.
- To edit details for your new Voice Pin, open Extender and select your pin there.
Other COROS devices:
- Create a voice pin from your app. With Extender open, select the Pin icon on the right side of the screen.
- Press and hold the record button and speak into your phone to save your voice note.
- Edit the name of your new voice pin and add any photos or videos.
How to View, Edit, and Search for Pins
Every Pin is saved along the track of your finished activity summary, and also saved to the Explore page in your COROS app. You can select any of your Pins from either the activity summary or Explore page to edit the name, add photos, or type notes.
While viewing a Pin, select the star icon to mark it as a Favorite. You can easily locate your Favorited Pins by opening the My Collection folder in the top right corner of the Explore page, and toggling to Pins.
In the Explore page, the search bar not only functions as a way to quickly jump to a location, but also to search through all of your Pins. After typing your keywords in the search bar, toggle to "My Pins" to filter your results.
Waypoints
Waypoints are used to mark specific points within a route. They can indicate aid stations, water sources, mountain peaks, or anything of interest. As you're following a route, you can see the distance and elevation gain remaining to the next waypoint.
Waypoints in the COROS App
See your time spent at waypoints: If you followed a route during your activity that included waypoints, you can see the time spent at each waypoint in the lap details section at the bottom of your activity summary.
Waypoints on imported routes: If you import a route that already includes waypoints, those waypoints will also be displayed in the COROS app, and they can be edited or deleted.
Waypoints on created routes: If you are creating a new route or editing an existing one in the COROS app, you can add waypoints at any place along the route.
- Start creating a new route, or click Edit to modify an existing route
- Select "Add a Waypoint"
- Tap anywhere close to the route path
- Toggle ON the Waypoint Alert
If you have a Pin located on or close to your route, you can transform the it into a waypoint by selecting it and choosing "Add as Waypoint." The Saved Pin icon will then change colors from orange to blue.
Waypoints on your COROS Watch
To preview a route and its waypoints on your COROS watch, long-press the Back button from either the main watch face or your activity data page (if you are already tracking an activity). Scroll to the Navigation widget, then choose "Select Route." Before starting the route, scroll down to "Sections" to preview the waypoints on that route.
While you are following a route on your COROS watch, if your route has waypoints included, there will be a default screen added to provide waypoint details. Scroll through your activity data pages until you see the waypoint page, which provides the name of the next waypoint along with the distance and elevation gain remaining to that waypoint.
