COROS has developed an advanced vertical GPS algorithm to help you track your climbs with unmatched accuracy. To ensure your GPS track is as accurate as possible, it's important to start your activity at the beginning of your approach to the climb where GPS signal will be the strongest.
If you try to start an activity at the base of the climb, the walls and overhangs may create difficulty for your watch to establish a strong GPS signal.
Follow the steps below to make sure you are able to record the most accurate GPS track for your climbs.
Preparing for Your Climb
Make sure your watch firmware is updated to the latest firmware by going to the COROS app > Profile page > select your watch > scroll down to Firmware Version. Keeping your watch updated with the latest available firmware ensures that the latest outdoor climbing algorithm is installed on your device.
Starting an Outdoor Climb
To maximize the accuracy of the GPS tracking, follow these steps:
- Start tracking your climb from the beginning of the approach, where the GPS environment is typically most favorable. This ensures that your initial location is precise, which is critical for the accuracy of your entire route.
- Press the digital dial to access the activity menu.
- Scroll to select "Outdoor Climb."
Establish a Solid GPS Signal
Allow 10-15 seconds for your watch to secure a strong GPS signal: You'll see an indication on the screen once the signal is locked.
Connect and Sync Your Watch with the COROS app: Doing this regularly ensures that your satellite data on the watch is up to date and that you can most quickly find the satellites nearest you to connect to with the strongest signal.
Clear View of the Sky: When starting your activity, always try to maintain a clear view of the sky to enhance GPS accuracy. Once the signal is established with a clear view, you will see accuracy improvements for the remainder of the activity with the solid signal connection.
