Running VO2 Max

VO2 Max is the maximum amount of oxygen (in milliliters) per kilogram of body weight that you can consume per minute while exercising at maximum intensity. It is an important indicator to assess your body's aerobic capacity, and should increase as your fitness level increases. Factors such as age, gender, weight, heart rate, and Training Status affect your COROS VO2 Max value.

As you record more outdoor running activities, COROS estimates your VO2 Max and adjusts this value over time based on changes in heart rate and pace.

Viewing Your VO2 Max

In the COROS app, open the Running Fitness card and scroll down to the Base Metrics section. Here, select VO2 Max to expand a graph of your VO2 Max trends.

On your COROS watch, scroll down from the main watch face and select the Running Fitness widget. Your VO2 Max value is listed here below your Running Fitness score.

How Does My VO2 Max Relate to My Running Fitness Score?

Running Fitness Score and VO2 Max are not directly linked, though they tend to move together. As your Running Fitness Score improves, your VO2 Max generally improves too.

While VO2 Max is a single value, Running Fitness Score is a well-rounded estimation of your overall aerobic fitness and your readiness for marathon performance. Both can be used in tandem with other biomarkers and assessments for an overview of your fitness and training status.
