VO2 Max is the maximum amount of oxygen (in milliliters) per kilogram of body weight that you can consume per minute while exercising at maximum intensity. It is an important indicator to assess your body's aerobic capacity, and should increase as your fitness level increases.
As you accumulate more recorded workouts within the COROS App, our algorithms will provide an estimation of your VO2 Max and will continue to adjust the value over time. The App assesses each outdoor run, and relies on metrics like heart rate and pace to to approximate VO2 Max.
COROS Support Insights
There are a number of factors that can influence the maximum amount of oxygen your body can uptake at any given time, including: Training Status, Heart Rate, Gender, Age, Weight, Nutritional Status, Environmental and Atmospheric Conditions, etc.
Finding Your VO2 Max Within the COROS App
To find your VO2 Max within the COROS App, simply tap on the "Running Fitness" tab on the Progress Page of the app. This will provide a detailed breakdown of your Running Fitness Score, and will provide basic values such as VO2 Max, Threshold Pace, and threshold heart rate. You can tap on any of these three to open a graph showing how each has trended over the past month, 90-days, and 6-months.
How Does My VO2 Max Relate to My Running Fitness Score?
While these two values are not directly linked, it is fair to assume that as your Running Fitness Score improves, so too should your VO2 Max, and vice versa. However, whereas the Running Fitness Score is meant to provide a well-rounded estimation of your overall aerobic fitness and readiness for marathon performance, VO2 Max is simply one value that can be used (in-tandem with a number of other biomarkers and assessments) to provide a general overview of your fitness and training status.
