Record and relive your activities in greater detail with Adventure Journal, a dynamic and immersive way to document your activities. With Adventure Journal, you can save photos and videos to your activities, and pin your favorite locations with audio, text, and photos.
Get Started
To create your Adventure Journal, use your watch and COROS app together. First, begin tracking any outdoor activity on your COROS watch. Then, open your COROS app to the first page and select the Extender card. This will open an extended display of your surroundings, including a map, the route you've already traveled, and real-time metrics at the bottom of the screen.
Record Photos and Video
To take a photo at any point during your activity, press the camera icon on the right side of the screen. Press the white button to take a picture, or press and hold for a video. Press the red Save button to save the image to your phone's camera roll and to your COROS account. The new image will appear on your position along the route.
Select the image to add notes, move the image to a new location on the map, or delete it.
Tip: You can sync photos and videos after the activity is finished by clicking the Journal icon on the activity summary page.
Record Voice Pins
To capture even more detail and emotion during your activity, you can also record Voice Pins. Certain key phrases will automatically categorize your Voice Pin with a unique icon. These include water fountain, bathroom, parking lot, campsite, and more.
On COROS devices with built-in microphones (COROS NOMAD, APEX 4, PACE 4):
- Record voice pins directly on the watch by long-pressing the Back button to open the toolbox menu, and scrolling to the Pin widget. Select Voice Pin and press the dial to begin recording.
- To edit details for your new Voice Pin, open Extender and select your pin there.
Other COROS devices:
- Create a voice pin from your app. With Extender open, select the Pin icon on the right side of the screen.
- Press and hold the record button and speak into your phone to save your voice note.
- Edit the name of your new voice pin and add any photos or videos.
Save Pins and Points of Interest
During your activity, you can save specific points along your route such as water fountains, camping spots, or other points of interest to remember for future use.
In the app:
- To drop a new pin, select the Pin icon on the right side of the screen. Add a name, description, and icon for your new pin. You can also take an image or upload one from your camera roll to save with the pin.
On your watch:
- To save Pins from your watch, long-press the Back button to open the toolbox menu and scroll to the Pin widget. You can also select an icon for your Pin directly on the watch.
- Note: To edit the name and description of the Pin, and add any photos or videos, you will need to select the Pin from your COROS app.
Every Pin is saved along the track of your finished activity summary, and also saved to the Explore page in your COROS app. You can select any of your Pins from either the activity summary or Explore page to edit the name, add photos, or type notes.
Create Your Adventure Journal Timeline
Once your activity is finished, you can relive every moment from the COROS app. Your completed activity summary will display any photos, videos, and voice pins that were saved during the activity. You can also add additional photos and videos from your phone's camera roll to curate a Timeline and share with family and friends.
Add photos and videos: If you have photos and videos taken during the activity that aren't already pinned to the route, click the Journal icon near the top right of the activity summary. COROS will display all of the photos and videos timestamped during your activity, and you can select the ones you wish to add to your GPS track.
- Include pre- or post-activity photos: If you have images that aren't timestamped during your activity - such as finish line photos - use the Edit button within the timeline view to manually choose and place additional images onto your GPS track.
- After pressing the Edit button, select "Add Media" at the bottom of the page.
- Choose your photo(s) or video(s).
- Pin each image somewhere on your GPS track.
Press the Back button to return to the timeline. Your newly added image(s) will now be included.
- Choose a cover image: By default, the first image in your Timeline will be the cover image, and the Timeline view will rotate through the rest of your media as a carousel. You can manually change the cover image by selecting the image icon directly above the activity name (for example, the icon above "Trail Run"). This will display a gallery of all your photos and videos. Select a photo, press the three dots in the top right corner, and choose "Set as Cover."
- Share your Timeline: When your Timeline is ready, press the Share icon in the top right corner, and send a link to family and friends. They will be able to see your GPS track along with all of your photos, videos, and voice pins, to relive your Adventure Journal.
