Heart Rate Monitor Care and Maintenance Guide

Routinely cleaning your COROS Heart Rate Monitor will help the optical heart rate sensor remain effective, and the band to remain comfortable during long periods of usage.

Disclaimer:

  • When cleaning your HRM, use lukewarm water (the temperature should not exceed 104'F)
  • When cleaning your COROS Heart Rate Monitor, please use lukewarm water (ensure the water temperature does not exceed 40°C or 104°F).
  • We do not recommend the usage of detergents that contain harsh chemicals, such as fabric softeners, bleach, scorning agents, etc.

Failure to comply with these recommendations may compromise the integrity of the band material, potentially damage the optical heart rate sensor, and void the COROS Warranty Policy.

Daily Care Instructions

Following daily activity, we recommend performing the steps below to quickly and easily remove sweat and dirt from your device:

  1. Remove the heart rate monitor from your arm
  2. Rinse both the band and the sensor under a gentle stream of lukewarm water for 20-30 seconds
  3. Allow the sensor and band to air dry completely before usage

Deep Clean Instructions

Once every 1 - 2 weeks, we recommend performing a more thorough clean of your Heart Rate Monitor's band. This will help prevent irritation or discomfort during activity.

Before washing the band, please remove the optical heart rate sensor by undoing the velcro attachment, and sliding the band through the buckle. For a visual reference, please click here to see this step performed.

Hand Washing Instructions

Before hand washing the band, please ensure the sensor has been removed.

  1. Rinse the band under a gentle stream of warm water.
  2. Apply a drop of mild detergent or dishwashing liquid, and lather into the band for 20-30 seconds.
  3. Rinse all detergent out of the band using a gentle stream of warm water.
  4. Once all detergent has been removed from the band, allow it to air dry completely before reattaching the sensor.

Machine Washing Instructions

Before machine washing the band, please ensure the sensor has been removed. We also recommend placing the band in a mesh or net-like laundry bag before machine washing, if available.

  1. Place the band in a laundry bag, and then into the washing machine with a standard load of laundry.
  2. Apply a small amount of laundry detergent, and run the load of laundry on a gentle cycle using warm water.
  3. Once complete, remove the band from the machine and the laundry bag, and allow it to air dry completely before reattaching the sensor.

How to Reassemble the HR Monitor after Cleaning

  1. After rinsing or washing the band of your Heart Rate Monitor, allow it to fully dry before reattaching the sensor.
  2. Lay out the band with the Velcro facing upwards. Position the sensor so that the side where the components are visible is also facing upwards. Refer to the image below as an example.

  3. With the band and sensor remaining in this same orientation, begin sliding the end of the band with the Velcro through the two clips on the back of the sensor. The Velcro may fit snugly at first, but once that part of the band is fed through the sensor clips, the rest of the band slides through easily.

  4. Flip the band, with the sensor now attached, completely over so the opposite side is now facing upwards. Take both edges of the band and curve them upwards, so you can slide the Velcro end of the band through the keeper on the opposite end.

  5. Once the square portion of the Velcro is through the keeper, fold it over the other side, so that it fastens securely to the opposite Velcro. Pull gently on the HR Monitor a few times to make sure it is fastened properly.
