Available on PACE 3, PACE 4, PACE Pro, COROS NOMAD, APEX 2/2 Pro, APEX 4, VERTIX 2, VERTIX 2S

Hybrid Fitness mode is ideal for any workout or race that requires switching between running and functional training stations.

How It Works

There are 8 stations within Hybrid Fitness mode:

  1. SkiErg
  2. Sled Push
  3. Sled Pull
  4. Burpee Broad Jumps
  5. Rowing
  6. Farmer's Carry
  7. Sandbag Lunges
  8. Wall Balls

For races, each station is preceded by a 1km run, so a full race is: Run → Station 1 → Run → Station 2, etc. During the workout, your watch will display your current pace (for the run phases), heart rate, event time, total activity time, and the station that's coming next. In addition to these default pages, you can also set up your own data pages to use within Hybrid Fitness mode.

When you first open Hybrid Fitness mode, you will be prompted to select which mode you'll be using. Each of the three modes - Race, Training, and Test - have unique settings and ways to track your hybrid fitness workout.

Race Mode

Within Race mode, your COROS watch will track all 8 functional training stations and run intervals in the order listed above. Depending on the race format, you choose to record the race as an individual, doubles, or relay.

  1. Select a race format.
    • Individual: You are completing all segments of the race individually.
    • Doubles: You are completing some of the segments while your partner completes the others. The watch will still track all 8 stations (or all 16 segments).
    • Relay: You are completing some of the segments, while multiple teammates complete the others. If relay is selected on the watch, you will also need to choose the specific training stations you will be completing. Scroll through the list of stations and select the ones that you will be doing, then press Confirm when you are done. Your watch will only track those specific stations, and add Rest segments in between.
  2. Next, scroll down to Transitions to customize whether each segment advances manually or automatically.
    • If you select Auto-Transition, your watch will automatically detect when you've completed a run segment or training station, and automatically transition to the next phase of the race. You can then select whether you are completing a full length race, or half length. Half length means each station is half of the standard distance / duration. Selecting this will ensure the auto-transition algorithm will accurately detect your transitions.
    • If you select Manual Transition, you will need to press the Back/Lap button to advance. (If you accidentally advance prematurely with a manual transition, you can undo your transition by pressing the Back button to go back to the previous phase of the workout.)
  3. Press Start to begin tracking, and your watch will guide you through each phase of the race.

Training Mode

Within Training mode, your COROS watch tracks each segment as an event rather than a fixed training station. You can also customize your rest periods to be continuous, fixed, or manual.

  • Continuous: There are no rests between functional training stations. You simply move from one station to the next with no recorded rests in between.
  • Fixed: Set a specific time (such as 30 seconds, 1 minute, etc.) and your watch will automatically transition to the next phase of the workout when the time is elapsed.
  • Manual: The watch only advances to a rest phase when you press the Back/Lap button.

Press Start to begin tracking. Your watch will record your training as an Event. To separate your workout into multiple training phases, press the Back/Lap button. This will advance you immediately to the next Event (if you have Continuous rests enabled) or into a Rest period (if you have Fixed or Manual rests enabled). Continue pressing the Back/Lap button until your workout is completed.

In the activity summary in the COROS app, your completed Hybrid Fitness Training will classify each of your separate events as "Functional Workout Training." You can rename these to reflect the individual training stations (such as burpees, wall balls, etc.) by opening your activity, selecting the three dots in the top corner, and selecting Edit.

Test Mode

Test Mode is available within Hybrid Fitness to help you determine your current physical fitness level for hybrid fitness races, or monitor your improvement over time. Test Mode follows a standardized format with the following training exercises:

  1. 1km run
  2. 50 burpees
  3. 100 lunges
  4. 1km rowing
  5. 30 push ups
  6. 100 wall balls

Based on your completion time, you may receive a badge in the Personal Records section of your COROS app.

Activity Alerts

Before pressing Start, scroll down to Activity Alerts to customize alerts for pace, heart rate, and nutrition. Anytime you are outside of the preset zone (or when you have reached the elapsed time for your next nutrition alert), the watch will alert you while continuing to track your activity.
