Your COROS app and devices just got a major upgrade. Here's everything new in this spring update:
Pace Strategy
Take the guesswork out of race day or your next trail adventure. With custom pace strategies for road and trail runs, your COROS watch does the planning for you. Just set a target time and let your watch pace each segment, tailored to your fitness level and the course's elevation changes. Trail runners and ultra athletes can also set waypoint times and view weather forecast data to stay ahead of changing conditions throughout the run.
To get started, open the COROS app, head to your Profile page, and select Pace Strategy. Learn more about this feature here.
Hill Alerts
Never be caught off guard by a climb again. While following a route on your COROS watch, Hill Alerts notify you of upcoming climbs and descents in real time, so you always know what's coming and can pace yourself accordingly.
While following a route, any climbs and descents are automatically detected and alerted by your watch, and you can easily keep track of your progress through the current segment. Read more about Hill Alerts here.
Weekly Distance Widget
View your weekly distance totals for runs, bike rides, and swims in a single widget on your watch. The new Weekly Distance widget is available by scrolling down from the main watch face.
Hybrid Fitness Mode
This new activity mode tracks workouts or races that require switching between running and functional training stations. Your COROS watch can auto-detect when you transition between a run segment and a training station, so you never have to press a button mid-workout. Click here to learn how to use Hybrid Fitness mode.
Pause Options
When you press the dial during an activity, you can choose whether the activity instantly pauses, or whether a new menu opens with more options. The Pause Options menu includes the ability to review your previous laps, or jump to a different stage of a structured workout, all while the activity continues tracking in the background (or you can pause the activity with a second press of the dial). To customize this setting, go to System > Activity Interface > Dial Press.
Race Predictor Trends
You can now see how your predicted times for the 5k, 10k, half marathon, and marathon stack up over time with this new chart. To view your Race Predictor trends, open your COROS app to the first page, select the Running Fitness card, and scroll down to the Race Predictor.
Climbing Updates
This update brings several updates to climbing activities, including:
- More detailed activity summaries in the app for a deeper analysis of your climb.
- Auto Pitch finish detection now available for Single Pitch climbing.
- Smoother session tracking flow on the watch for outdoor climbs.
- Allows you to properly track your rest phases between different pitches or routes (especially useful for single pitch climb).
- New statistics available in the app for outdoor climbs, such as Most Sent Grade and Style Distribution.
COROS DURA Updates
DURA now supports Media Control, so you can control the music or podcast playing from your connected smartphone directly on DURA. To access Media Control, you will need to set it up as a data page (within the "Others" category of the data page customization process).
We've also optimized the Lap Screen display and how different road types are displayed on the map.
More Updates and Optimizations
COROS NOMAD, PACE 4, PACE Pro, and APEX 4 now support increasing the font size for notifications. To do so, scroll down from the main watch face to open the most recent notification on your COROS watch. Press the dial to open the notification, then scroll down to open the font size menu, where you can choose from Medium or Large.
To keep your information safe, you can set up a Passcode that locks your watch the moment it leaves your wrist. If the watch is off your arm for more than a minute without any interaction, it requires entering the code to view any data.
To set up a passcode, go to System > More Settings > Passcode. Enter a 4-digit PIN to secure your watch.
Currently available for NOMAD, APEX 4, PACE Pro, and PACE 4 only. Additional device support coming soon.
This new structured workout setting lets you choose whether your workout automatically pauses upon completing the final stage, or continues tracking after you complete the final stage. To adjust this setting, open a workout on your COROS watch and scroll down to Finish Pause.
Updated activity summary: When viewing your activity summary for Multisport or Triathlon activities in the app, a new dropdown menu is now available that makes it easy to view the different activity modes within your workout or race.
Change Activity: You can now pause an outdoor activity and switch to a different mode mid-session. Your activities will later be merged into a single Multisport workout in the app. To do so, press the dial while tracking your activity and scroll down to Change Activity.
Nutrition Alert intervals can now occur as frequently as every 5 minutes and can be customized to the exact minute. (Previously, the lower limit was 15 minutes, and alerts could only be selected in 5 minute intervals.)
Sleep Mode now remains active until your set Wake Time or until it is manually exited via Control Center. Display behavior has also been adjusted to minimize nighttime disturbances.
On watches with MIP screens, the display will remain dimmed even when activated. On AMOLED watches (PACE 4 and PACE Pro), when the display is activated, the time listed on the main watch face will initially display in red text, until you interact further with the watch.
Recently completed activities can now be saved as a new route in the app and synced to your watch, even without a network connection.
Improved visual display for activity data in Landscape mode.
Additional performance optimizations for Pool Swim mode, including the ability to scroll and view your regular data pages while in Rest mode.
