Many Android devices are highly customizable in how you can configure the device settings (particularly in extending battery life), which adds great value to the user experience - but can present challenges in staying connected with any Bluetooth device.
While we will not be able to comprehensively cover all situations where the compatibility between your COROS device and Android device are causing problems, we did put together a list of things we can do on our end to ensure the best connection possible.
-
Exclude the COROS app from the Battery Optimization List
- Android phones running Android 6.0 or later will kill background apps automatically in certain circumstances. This may cause your phone to terminate the Bluetooth connection with your COROS device. To prevent this from occurring, please check the "Battery Optimization List" in the settings of your phone and make sure that the COROS app is excluded. On some devices, you may be able to find this setting under Battery Settings > Unmonitored Apps.
-
Check Location Services & Permissions
- To Check Location Services: This may be located either in your App settings or simply in your location settings. Please refer to your manufacturer's instructions if unsure.
- To Check COROS App Permissions: This will likely be under System/Android Settings > Apps. Please refer to your manufacturer's instructions if unsure.
-
Disable background Bluetooth on similar apps
- Other apps of similar types that have background Bluetooth sync features can interfere with a stable Bluetooth connection, please disable all background Bluetooth features on other apps. An example of a similar app would be Fitbit.
If that does not resolve the issue, you may be able to find a temporary fix by doing the following:
- Restart your phone.
- Enter airplane mode on your phone.
- Enable GPS/Location services.
- Wait for 30 seconds and exit airplane mode.
Advanced Troubleshooting
If the settings above have been checked and you are still having trouble, please try the following:
- Turn off your COROS watch or DURA by going to System > More Settings > Turn Off.
- Remove the device on the COROS app: Open the COROS app to the Profile page, select your device, and scroll down to Remove. Make sure your device is already powered off before completing this step, otherwise it will be factory reset.
- Force Stop the COROS app: System/Android Settings > Apps > COROS > Force Stop
- Clear the COROS app storage: This should be accessible from System/Android Settings > Apps > COROS.
- Forget/Unpair any/all COROS devices in the Bluetooth settings on your phone: This can generally be found under System/Android Settings > Bluetooth Settings > Choose the COROS Device or tap the "i" next to it > Forget/Unpair
- Turn your phone OFF. Do not simply restart it, but power off the phone completely.
- Wait 15 seconds and then turn your phone back on.
- Try pairing again: Open the COROS app to the Profile page and begin the pairing process again. Instead of scanning the QR code, you can select "Pair via Bluetooth" to try pairing manually.
