How to Use Live Tracking

Live Tracking lets your friends and family follow you in real time, and see your location, heart rate, pace or speed, and more.

Requirements

Live Tracking works for all outdoor activities, and is available on COROS PACE 3, PACE 4, PACE Pro, COROS NOMAD, APEX 2/2 Pro, APEX 4, VERTIX 2/2S, and DURA.

While using Live Tracking, make sure your COROS device remains connected to your phone, with the COROS app running in the background.

Schedule a Tracking Link in Advance

If you have a planned race or event with a specific start date and time, you can create a shareable link ahead of time. The link won't go live until the set start time.

  1. How to set up: Open your COROS app to the Profile page, and scroll down to Live Tracking. At the top of the page, select "Create Scheduled Tracking."
  2. Select the start time: Choose the date and time you plan to start your activity, and the estimated time you plan to finish.
    • Your link won't go live until the start time you set, even if you begin recording your activity sooner.
    • Once you're recording, the link will stay active as long as your activity is still running, even past your set finish time.
  3. Add a route (optional): If you know the route you will be traveling, you can upload one of your saved routes from your COROS Library. The route path will be displayed during Live Tracking, so spectators can see where you're headed.

  4. Share: Once your link is ready, you can share it with friends and family in advance.
  5. Start tracking: On race day, simply start tracking your activity like you normally would. The live tracking link will display your real-time data at the scheduled start time.

If you need to cancel a scheduled link, open the Live Tracking page in your COROS app and press the Cancel button. This will invalidate the current scheduled link.

What Data Can Spectators See?

When someone opens a Live Tracking link, they are able to see the athlete's real-time location, including the GPS coordinates of their current location. Depending on the activity mode, spectators may also see the athlete's current heart rate, pace/speed, elevation gain, Effort Pace, and more.

A banner will appear at the top of the page if the athlete pauses the activity.

Once the activity is finished and saved on the athlete's device, the tracking link will continue to display their final activity stats for 30 minutes, before the link expires.

How to Use Live Tracking On-Demand

Tracking links can also be created in the moment, without needing to plan ahead. With your outdoor activity already recording, open your COROS app to the first page, and tap the share icon within the Extender window. This creates a Live Tracking link for the current activity that you can send to friends and family.

FAQs

Can I use Safety Alerts and Live Tracking at the same time?

Yes. The Safety Alert auto email (which also tracks the athlete's location), and the SOS alert, can both be utilized simultaneously with Live Tracking links. If the athlete sends an SOS alert, a red SOS banner will appear on the live tracking link page to inform spectators.

Can I follow a structured workout and use Live Tracking at the same time?

Yes, you can use both features simultaneously.

Can spectators see the route I'm following if I use the On-Demand option?

No, spectators are only able to see your route if you upload it ahead of time using the Scheduled Tracking option.

Does Live Tracking work with the Resume Later feature?

Yes. Spectators will see a pause banner at the top of the tracking page while your activity is in the Resume Later state.

Can spectators still see my data if I start my activity earlier than the set start time?

No, spectators can only see your location and activity data when the start time is reached, not before. Even if you begin tracking your activity a few minutes before, the link is not active until the set start time. However, once the start time is reached, your data will be visible for the entire activity - for example, spectators can see that you have already traveled X miles since you began recording.

Will my scheduled tracking link work if I have multiple devices connected to my COROS account?

Yes, you can record your activity on any of your supported COROS devices. The tracking link is not tied to a specific device.
