Indoor Run/Treadmills

Indoor Run mode is designed for treadmill or indoor track workouts, ensuring accurate tracking whether you’re running with or without a foot pod.

Using Indoor Run without a Foot Pod

If you’re running without a foot pod, you can manually set your speed on the watch. Before starting your run, scroll down to Settings > select Speed > enter your current treadmill speed.

If your treadmill is set to an incline, select Grade and choose the correct value.

You can update Speed or Grade at any point during your workout.

  • Press the dial to pause your run. Scroll down to Speed or Grade to adjust the settings.
  • Or, without pausing your run, long press the Back button to open the Toolbox menu and scroll to Activity Settings. Select Speed or Grade to adjust the settings while your activity is tracked in the background.

Using Indoor Run with a Foot Pod

If you’re paired with the COROS POD 2 or another foot pod, wait on the Start page until the green accessory icon turns solid, confirming a stable connection. Press Start to begin your run. Your watch will use data from the foot pod to deliver the most accurate pace and distance.

Using Indoor Run With Zwift

From the Start page of Indoor Run mode, scroll down and select Virtual Run. Follow the on-screen prompts to connect your watch to Zwift. Once paired, your watch will broadcast data to Zwift. For more details, refer to our Virtual Run guide.

Indoor Run Settings

From the Start page in Indoor Run mode, you can customize the following:

  • Basic Interval: Build your own interval workout with optional warmup and cooldown stages. Each interval can be based on distance, time, or set to Open so you can manually advance using the Back/Lap button.
  • Speed: Select your planned treadmill speed. You can adjust this anytime by pausing the run.
  • Grade: Set your treadmill incline. Adjusting this affects total elevation gain.
  • Activity Alert: Choose alerts for distance, pace, cadence, heart rate, nutrition, or power. Your watch will notify you when you reach or exceed preset values.

Tips for More Accurate Indoor Run Data

  1. Maintain a steady pace. When running without a foot pod, your watch relies on a pace-cadence model. Sudden or frequent pace changes can create inaccuracies. For interval workouts, consider using Manual Speed to input your exact pace.
  2. Use a foot pod for maximum accuracy. Devices like the COROS POD 2 measure foot motion directly, providing the most reliable pace and distance indoors.
  3. Calibrate after your run. At the end of the workout, your watch may ask you to confirm the total distance. Entering the correct value helps refine the pace-cadence model for more accurate tracking in the future.

Distance and Pace Calibration

COROS watches estimate pace using cadence and a powerful cadence-pace model. If your pace seems inaccurate, you can rely on the post-workout distance calibration feature. After you enter the corrected distance, your watch will update the cadence-pace model to improve future indoor pacing accuracy at all cadence levels.

For eligible indoor runs, your watch will automatically prompt you to confirm the total distance before saving. An indoor run qualifies if:

  • No manual speed was selected
  • A structured workout or training plan was not used
  • The recorded distance is at least 1 km

Please note, the distance calibration for Indoor Runs does not apply to 3rd party apps. Often, they rely on their own algorithms to recalculate distance, pace, and other metrics before displaying the data to you. You may need to adjust the distance manually on 3rd party apps if desired.
