Cleaning and Caring for Your COROS Device

COROS Watches

All COROS watches are waterproof for swimming and everyday wear. To keep yours looking and performing its best, we recommend regular cleaning, especially after workouts or exposure to sweat, salt water, or chlorine. This helps prevent discoloration and ensures sensors and charging contacts stay clear. For deeper cleaning, remove the band and clean it separately.

Things to Avoid

Do not expose your COROS watch to excessive heat or cold, saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, compressed air, ultrasonic cleaners, or chemicals. Avoid spraying sunscreen, perfume, mosquito repellent/bug spray, DEET, or alcohol directly on your watch as these may damage the casing. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with clean water. Avoid cleaning the watch with sharp objects.

Cleaning the Watch Body

  • We recommend cleaning the watch body after coming into contact with saltwater, sand, dirt, debris, chemicals, or after sweaty workouts.
  • Rinse the watch with clean water, then gently wipe it using a lint-free cloth. If dirt or debris builds up, soak the watch in clean water for about 30 minutes, then rinse and gently press the buttons to help flush out any remaining particles. After cleaning, dry the watch with a lint-free cloth. Ensure all holes and gaps are free of moisture, or place the watch in a well-ventilated area to air-dry completely.
  • Showering: COROS watches can be worn in the shower, but avoid contact with soap and shower gel, as they can damage waterproof seals. If exposed, soak and rinse with fresh water.
  • After swimming: Rinse your watch with clean water after each swim to remove salt and chlorine residues.
  • Charging port care: Clean charging contacts with a lightly moistened cotton swab and ensure they are fully dry before charging.

Watch Bands and HRM Band

Silicone bands: Remove the band from the watch before cleaning. Rinse with clean water or a small amount of mild hand soap. Avoid hard brushes, which can damage the protective coating. Avoid placing the band in the washer/dryer. Rather than using a hair dryer or high heat, let the band air dry completely before wearing.

Nylon bands: Remove the band from the watch and gently hand wash it using a diluted mild detergent or soap. Do not soak for long periods as this may loosen the Velcro. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Avoid placing the band in the washer/dryer. Rather than using a hair dryer or high heat, let the band air dry completely before wearing.

COROS DURA

Things to avoid: Do not expose your COROS DURA to excessive heat or cold, saunas, steam rooms, compressed air, ultrasonic cleaners, or chemicals. Avoid spraying sunscreen, perfume, mosquito repellent/bug spray, DEET, or alcohol directly on your DURA as these may damage the casing. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with clean water. Avoid cleaning the bike computer with sharp objects.

When to clean: We recommend cleaning DURA after coming into contact with sweat, sand, dirt, debris, or chemicals.

  • Rinse DURA with clean water, then gently wipe it using a lint-free cloth. Rinse and gently press the buttons to help flush out any remaining particles. After cleaning, dry the bike computer with a lint-free cloth. Ensure all holes and gaps are free of moisture, or place DURA in a well-ventilated area to air-dry completely.
  • Bike cleaning: You can leave DURA on your bike while doing routine bike cleaning/power washing, but take care not to spray DURA directly with a power washer or bike cleaning chemicals.
  • Charging port care: Clean charging contacts with a lightly moistened cotton swab and ensure they are fully dry before charging.

COROS Heart Rate Monitor

To ensure accurate readings, make sure to regularly clean the sensor by rinsing it under fresh water and gently drying with a lint-free cloth. To learn how to remove the band and clean the device, please click here.

COROS POD 2

Always be sure to remove the COROS POD 2 from clothing or shoes after use. When not in use, store the POD 2 in a dry environment.

If water or other liquid comes in contact with the POD 2, please ensure the device is dry before starting a new run. Water may impact the readings from the barometric altimeter.

Battery Health and Maintenance

COROS devices use lithium batteries. To maintain battery health and extend service life:

  • Avoid heat: Keep the device away from high temperatures. This includes saunas, steam rooms, hot springs, or anywhere above 50°C (122°F).
  • Limit exposure to cold: Avoid prolonged use in temperatures below 0°C (32°F).
  • Only use 5V/1A charging ports when charging. Do NOT use fast-charge cables or fast-charge power banks.

If the battery life on your COROS watch appears to be declining, please see our tips on how to calibrate the battery.

Best Practices to Keep Your Skin Healthy

Keep your watch and skin clean: Regularly clean your COROS watch and band, especially after workouts or exposure to sweat. Gently wash your hands and wrist with mild soap and water to help prevent buildup that may lead to irritation.

Let your skin breathe: After heavy sweating or water activities, remove your watch to allow the skin underneath to dry and breathe. If you wear your watch for long periods each day, consider occasionally switching wrists to give each side a break.

Possible skin allergies: Trace amounts of nickel may be present in metal components of some COROS watches. If you have known sensitivities, using a charging port cover (commonly available on Amazon or AliExpress) may help reduce potential irritation.

If you notice ongoing discomfort or skin irritation, reach out to your primary care provider or dermatologist for guidance and treatment options.
