If your COROS watch is restarting on its own, follow the steps below in order. Each step addresses a common cause of auto-restart behavior.
Step 1: Charge Your Watch
A low or critically low battery is the most common cause of unexpected restarts. Charge your watch fully before attempting other troubleshooting steps. If the watch restarts while charging, try a different power source. Avoid high-wattage quick chargers and use a standard USB port or 5V adapter instead.
Step 2: Update Firmware
Firmware bugs can cause restart loops, and updates frequently include stability fixes. Open the COROS app, go to the Profile page, and tap on your watch icon. Scroll down to check if a firmware update is available. Make sure the watch stays connected during the update process.
Step 3: Restart the Watch Manually
A manual restart can clear temporary software issues. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds or until the COROS logo appears:
- PACE 2, PACE 3, PACE 4, PACE Pro, COROS NOMAD, APEX 4, DURA — BACK/LAP button (lower right)
- APEX Pro, APEX 2, APEX 2 Pro, VERTIX 2, VERTIX 2S — LIGHT button (top)
- VERTIX — Digital Dial (middle)
- APEX 42mm, APEX 46mm — Digital Dial (top)
- PACE 1 — CONFIRM button (lower left)
For a full overview of buttons on each device, see Button and Watch Layout.
Step 4: Re-pair the Watch
If the watch continues to restart after a manual restart, re-pairing can resolve corrupted Bluetooth connections:
- Open the COROS app > Profile page > tap on the watch image > select Remove.*
- On your phone, go to Bluetooth settings and forget the COROS device from the paired accessories list.
- Restart your phone.
- Re-pair the watch through the COROS app > Profile page > Add New Device.
*Note: Removing the watch from the app may delete unsynced activities stored locally on the watch. Activities already synced to your COROS account will not be affected. For more details, see Remove Your COROS Device from the App.
Step 5: Factory Reset
If the issue persists, a factory reset can resolve deeper software problems:
- On the watch: System > More Settings > Reset All
- After the reset, re-pair the watch with the COROS app.
A factory reset will not affect data already synced to your COROS account, but it will remove all personalized settings and unsynced data on the watch. For more information, see Resetting Your COROS Device.
