Navigation Arrow Orientation During Activities
Speed > 5km/h | Speed < 2km/h | |
Route Navigation | When on the route using navigation, the direction of the arrow during navigation will be based on previous points on the route. When traveling faster than 5km per hour on the route, the arrow will point in the direction you are heading. | When traveling slower than 2km per hour on the route, the navigation arrow orientation will be based on the compass of your watch. |
Heading Up vs. North Up
Heading up | North Up | |
Route/Location Navigation Speed > 5km/h | - The forwardmost route position will be oriented towards 12 o'clock on the watch - The navigation arrow uses previous route/GPS info to point towards where you are traveling on the route. - The arrow will be positioned lower than the center of the screen to show more of what is to come. | - The map is oriented towards due north being the 12 o'clock position on the watch - The navigation arrow uses previous route/GPS info to point towards where you are traveling on the route. - The navigation arrow position is in the center of the screen |
Route/Location Navigation Speed < 2 km/h | - The forwardmost route position will be oriented toward due north based on the compass - The navigation arrow points to the 12 o'clock position of the watch and is centered on the screen | - The map will point towards 12 o'clock position of the watch based on compass readings - The navigation arrow points to the angle between the 12 o'clock position of the watch and due north on the map based on the compass. The navigation arrow is centered on the screen. |
Example Scenario
If you decrease your speed from 8km/h, your watch will only switch to compass-based orientation when your speed is below the 2km/h threshold. If you are traveling 1.5km/hr, you will then need to increase the speed to 5+km/h to regain GPS direction.
